Follow EAG On Facebook/Twitter

I have recently started a new job which has limited the amount of time I have available to keep the site up to date, I am however posting useful updates on the Facebook fan-page to keep everyone up-to-date with everything happening at EAG.

All the updates posted on Facebook are automatically replicated on Twitter so if you use either of those services then I suggest that you ‘follow’ EAG on your preferred service.

You can get involved on Facebook by heading over to the En Avant Guingamp Group and clicking the like button at the top. After you are following us on Facebook, why not use the ‘suggest to friends’ feature on the fan-page under the EAG logo and get your friends involved in En Avant Guingamp as well.

If you prefer to use Twitter as your medium of staying up to date then head over to the En Avant Guingamp Twitter Page and click ‘follow’.

I would like to apologize for not keeping the site up-to-date in recent weeks but once I have more time available it will become fully functional again.

Hope to interact with you shortly on Facebook/Twitter.

CN: EAG 1-0 FC Rouen

Posted by David Shaw on 7 August, 2010 under Match Review | 3 Comments

Guingamp got their Championnat National campaign off to a winning start last night, beating FC Rouen 1-0 at the Roudourou.

FC Rouen made it very difficult for the Red and Blacks though and can feel very hard done by that they did not come away from the match with a point.

In a tightly contested first-half it was probably Rouen that looked the most likely to score and called EAG keeper Mamadou Samassa into action on several occasions. Despite the pressure from Rouen Guingamp did create chances and had a goal disallowed in the opening 10 minutes.

At half-time the game was still goaless and it was looking like it was last season all over again with our inability to score goals.

However EAG did make the break-through after 62 minutes, Giresse drifted a free-kick into the box which was volleyed into the net at the back post by Bakary Kone.

One of Guingamps biggest strengths for the past few seasons has been its defence, this was evident again in the final half-hour of the match. Rouen continued to push and almost drew level late in the game, only denied by Giresse heading the ball off the line.

EAG would have been delighted and relived to have got their first win of the season and can now build on this success to get some momentum into the season now.

Next up is Bayonne on Saturday 14th, they play Cannes in their opening game tonight.

CN: FC Rouen Preview

Posted by David Shaw on 6 August, 2010 under Match Previews | 1 Comment

Location: Roudourou

Kick-off: 7pm GMT

Guingamp will tonight face FC Rouen in their first game in the third tier of French football since 1994.

The campaign started brightly last friday when EAG knocked Ligue 2 side Grenoble out of the Coupe de la Ligue. Goals from Anthony Knockaert and Herve Bazile just enough to take Guingamp through 2-1 away from home.

Guingamp were this week picked out as favourites to win promotion back to ligue 2 by 16 out of the 21 managers in the league. If they are to live-up to this prediction then they will need to get off to a winning start in the league campaign tonight.

Of the 17 man squad named for tonight’s game, 8 featured on a regular basis for the Red and Blacks last season. By keeping strong players such as Mathis, Bassila and Giresse, Guingamp should have one of the strongest squads in the division. Goalscorers from the previous game, Knockaert and Bazile both make the squad along with impressive new boy Ladislas Douniama.

FC Rouen are not a team to be under-estimated this season, they have a strong history that includes 19 seasons in Ligue 1, 36 seasons in Ligue 2 as well as featuring in the 1969-70 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup where they were knocked out by eventual winners Arsenal 1-0 on aggregate.

A victory for EAG tonight could well set them on their way for a strong season, which hopefully will end in promotion back the Ligue 2.

Squad:

Samassa, El Kharroubi – Ringayen, Argelier, Koné, Bassila, Lévêque, Colleau, Imbula, Mathis, Diallo, Bellugou, Douniama, Giresse, Knockaert, Soly, Bazile
